Summer in New Canaan

This summer we spent a lot of time at the New Canaan swimming pool. Here are some good pictures from the summer!

More from the BIG week...

Then, Easter weekend, my sister, Elizabeth and cousin Julia came to visit and brought cupcakes from Magnolia bakery (after the 14 cupcakes Kiki had delivered to the house on Pack's birthday)!

Elizabeth loves to share her food!

Never got a great shot of Elizabeth in her dress....

Happy Easter and Birthdays to Pack and Elizabeth!

A very big week in the David house, we celebrated Easter, Pack's 3rd birthday and Elizabeth's 1st birthday.

The Saturday before Easter was the big annual Easter egg hunt in Waveny park. It was only 30 degrees that morning! It was a very fun event. They had 4 big bouncy castles for the kids, a dance performance from NC dance academy, a huge bake sale, tons a balloons...fun was had by all.

Pack got a bouncy castle for his birthday from daddy! Elizabeth was thrilled as well.

Elizabeth got her first doll for her birthday and walks around saying "baby, baby"!

Lucky Pack got to have a backhoe at his own house for a day while they fixed the water leak between the well and the house. Pack even got to sit in the backhoe!

A blustery day

We had quite the storm last weekend. Heavy rains and winds left New Canaan and many other surrounding towns without power for nearly a week. We lost power Sat. March 13th and it did not come on until the 17th. There were trees and power lines down everywhere. Thankfully, a friend let us use his apartment in the city and we were able to have a warm place to stay with a shower, and save the majority of our freezer items! While we were in the city the kids and I went to the American Museum of Natural History. I didn't have my double stroller in the city that day, and Pack walked through the entire museum, all morning long, like a champ! He had a special hot dog lunch at Shake Shack that day. Another day we went to Chelsea Piers and let the kids run all day long. Pack even got to participate in a soccer lesson, which he loved. And we played at the beautiful parks in Battery Park City. We had gorgeous weather in the high 60's and spent lots of time outdoors.

Spring is in the air!

After having so much snow, our week of 50 and 60 degree weather is just what we needed! Crocus and daffodils are pushing up through the grass and mulch all around the yard. Elizabeth had a new word yesterday, "book". She loves when we chase her. She climbs everything. And when she knows that she's doing something she shouldn't do, she starts moving even faster before we can catch her.

A few weeks ago, I was in the city for the day and Pack decided he was going to use the toilet all day for everything! So we have been doing lots of potties in the toilet! Very exciting. Leaving the house is a whole different story though...

Elizabeth's hair is getting so long, this is the only way I can really keep it out of her eyes and I don't want to cut it!

Playing with daddy.

We have a wet weather spring that has popped up in front of our house. It used to be about 15 feet away from the house but it is now only about 7 feet away from the house! It sounds like we have a fountain running when you are standing just outside the front door and Pack, if he gets loose, runs and jumps in the muddy puddles. Two pairs of wet shoes later, we are in need of some rubber boots! Pack starts soccer in April. And I chopped his hair! I'll have to get a picture of the new look.
Here is my first smocked insert that I did for some shortalls I'm making for Pack. I counted out the pleats incorrectly, so its not perfect, but its just going to get dirty! I finished some ducks last week, but sent them off to Aunt Amy for construction before I could take a picture. I'm working on matching bishop dresses for both right now!

Two Front Teeth

We have all been getting a lot more sleep since Elizabeth cut her two top front teeth. Her pediatrician put her on iron supplements 3x daily for one month, so we will go back to the pediatrician next week to have iron levels checked again. Other than that, the kids have been very healthy! No colds for over a month!

Here is a belt I made for Pack.

And Elizabeth's new thing is rocking like a wild woman on her cow cow!

9 months

Elizabeth went to the Dr. for her 9 month well-baby visit today. She weighted in at 19lbs, which puts her in the 50th percentile. She let me put her in the playroom at the Y for a whole hour today, which is a first. Normally we struggle to make it for a half-hour. Elizabeth enjoys playing peek-a-boo with her blanky and today, for the first time, Elizabeth is really trying to walk all on her own! She has made great progress in just one week! Elizabeth's blood work came back that she was low hemoglobin, so the Dr. is doing some more tests.

Setting the table

Pack set the table tonight before we ate dinner all by himself, without us asking! I've never asked him so set the table before, but now that I know he can do it so well....

Elizabeth has been watching Pack and Patrick put their cars in the Hotwheels run since Christmas and she just crawled over to it and dropped a car in and got it started all on her own! Elizabeth ate eggs and strawberries this week for the first time. She loves strawberries! And she will not come near a spoon full of baby food.

The babies are growing up.

Happy New Year!

Pack loves to work on his tree climbing skills

Looking forward to 2010. We are so blessed to have two healthy children. After Christmas we had a warm rain that melted all of our snow and gave us a very nice day for playing outside.

Elizabeth and Pack going for their first wagon ride in their wagon that Santa brought them.

Elizabeth, trying out the shopping cart from Mimi and Papa.

Pack's imagination is very active. The other day while we are driving, he was looking up at the clouds and he said "Mommy, I wish I would fly without wings". He has been busy making up his own songs, "Muddy, Muddy" and "Froggy, Froggy"...same melody, different lyrics. Pack now regularly tells me which way I'm turning, left or right, while driving.

Elizabeth seems to understand everything we say, and seems to be starting to talk. Yesterday, she said "bye, bye" as we buckled her into her car seat and closed the car door. Last night I was talk to Elizabeth and ask her to walk to me, and she would do just that! And she was cruising around the table saying "mama, mama" or "dada, dada" but she doesn't say it to us just yet. She goes for her 9 month check up on Monday! Can't wait to see how much she weighs.
